The Admission Interview

First let’s outline the goals of the interview: Get to know the applicant (interests, talents, personality); answer the applicant’s questions to give them a better sense of the school, its programs, its unique characteristics, and what they need to do to complete the application; and determine if this student is a good fit for this school

With this is mind, it is easy to understand why the interview is so important. The interview creates the opportunity to have a conversation in which the admission officer and the applicant explore the student’s academic, co-curricular, and social interests and how all of that might fit into the school, its programs, and its community. Whether in person or done virtually, this conversation will be a cornerstone of the completed application.
